Well, I thought it was supposed to get quieter towards the end of the year, but November and December have been really busy - which is great for business, but I am really looking forward to January when I can concentrate on some development work instead !

How do you know you are going to have a good day? Well, today I had to drive 3.5 hours for a meeting. I went into a bakery and asked if they had a bacon and eggs tostie (it was in-between breakfast and lunchtime. The man in the bakery gave me the toastie for free because they had one left from breakfast and it wasn't freshly made ! Cool

A South African information technology company proved it was faster for them to transmit data with a carrier pigeon than to send it using Telkom, the country's leading internet service provider.
Internet speed and connectivity in Africa's largest economy are poor because of a bandwidth shortage. It is also expensive.
Local news agency SAPA reported the 11-month-old pigeon, Winston, took one hour and eight minutes to fly the 80 km from Unlimited IT's offices near Pietermaritzburg to the coastal city of Durban with a data card strapped to his leg.
Including downloading, the transfer took two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds.

On Tuesday I had an operation to have two in-growing toe-nails removed. The surgery went fine. But 3 days later I was in so much pain (despite anti-biotics and so much oTramadol, Diclofenac, and Codalgin I rattled when I walked!) I had to return to see the nurse and have the wounds (nice word!) re-dressed. Ouch! I found a new use for my iPhone - biting on it!
Anyhow, because I have to keep elevated, I've watched a load of movies including a Pink Panther-thon (all 5 movies with Peter Sellers - I really don't count the others). Also, so far, Midnight Cowboy (which wasn't quite as good as I remembered), The Producers (which was just silly), Annie Hall (a classic Woody Allen that definitely stood the test of time), and Bill Bailey in his stand-up show - very funny.
I'm really happy that our "MoodleSchool Onsite" professional development package is now more widely available.
School in NZ can now book Miriam to work on-site to support your e-learning and ICT professional development strategy
She can work with staff in groups, or one-to-one (ideal for busy senior management)
We keep things flexible and hours are negotiated to suit the individual school
Miriam is awesome, and is able to cover a huge range of ICT staff development including Moodle, e-learning pedagogy and design, Office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office and Open Office), Google Docs, Graphics (Photoshop, GIMP, and others), emerging Web 2.0 technologies (Flickr, Facebook, etc.), online gaming e.g. Second Life
It's flexible, it's cost-efficient, and it's effective !
For full details of this service see the "MoodleSchool Onsite" information page here
We know this is going to be really popular - and any school that wants this in place for 2010 should be talking to us now!

Well we finally pre-launched the MoodleSchool and HomeSchool yesterday.
The 'official' launch date is the ULearn conference in Christchurch in October.
But we are involving a small group of key people - Moodle enthusiasts and teachers - to help ensure what we are creating is going to be truly valuable for school teachers and home schooling parents in NZ.
